Seminar held by Jinnah Sindh Medical University about New Undergraduate HEC Policy
Developing Competencies for General Education Courses as per New Undergraduate Education Policy
A session on the new Undergraduate Education policy 2020, issued by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) was held by the Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) on February 2nd, 2021. The session was conducted by Dr Abdul Wahid Usmani, Director, Quality and Accreditation at JSMU and was attended by Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC’s) of different Universities in Karachi. Mr Sheikh Masood, Manager, QEC and Ms Anjiya Nuruddin, Senior Executive, QEC from IBA attended the session. The session was focused on understanding the new policy requirements set by HEC and was built in achieving the below outcomes.
1 | Comprehend the need for including the General Education requirements in degree programs |
2 | Comprehend the basic structure of competencies |
3 | Identify competencies required in General Education at Undergraduate Level |
4 | Formulate Elementary Level of competencies for General Education courses |
Overall, it was a good capacity building session and was a value addition for QEC. It assisted in developing an understanding of the HEC’s new undergraduate policy.
